After working nearly 3 decades in community newspapers, I walked away…
I left the business I love, not because I was necessarily done with it, but I think it was done with me — a middle-aged man who no longer had the stomach to fight the financial and social headwinds that are eroding the journalism profession. But I’m not in the grave yet and have more to say about this wonder-filled life.
Journalism, specifically community journalism, afforded me and my family the opportunity to live in four different states — Oklahoma, Arkansas, Washington and Oregon. After a three-year stay in Amarillo, Texas, my wife Sheryl and I moved back to my hometown of Tulsa, Okla. in 2024.
I work as a communications manager and she as a high school teacher. We are enjoying rediscovering Tulsa and all that has changed in the past three decades since we’ve been gone.
To the future…
