About

After working nearly 3 decades in community newspapers, I walked away…

I left the business I love, not because I was necessarily done with it, but I think it was done with me — a middle-aged man who no longer had the stomach to fight the financial and social headwinds that are eroding local print journalism. But I’m not in the grave yet and have more to say about this wonder-filled life.

Journalism, specifically community journalism, afforded me and my family the opportunity to live in four different states — Oklahoma, Arkansas, Washington and Oregon. My wife, Sheryl (a secondary school teacher), and I are now living in and exploring our fifth state in Amarillo, Texas.
